Lower your goals and expectations. It’s never about the final goal because if you achieve it you are done. It’s about tiny goals that point you towards something and trying to do something each day that inch worms you forward.

at this point the main reason to optimize your meshes isn't for actual optimization but so some loser on twitter doesn't zoom in on it and go "ermmm this could've been less tris"

people are talking about this like game devs are being whipped to make the fidelity of RDR2 but every dev i've ever worked with actively wants to produce that fidelity cause it's fun to them which is why they're the ones making games and not the people that think it torturous
