I can't continue to use this platform in its current state and ownership. Thanks for the chat over the years - it was fun for a long while. I'm in another place with a mix of education, politics, cycling and personal stuff. Schoolduggery may return when I'm settled back in the UK
It seems funny that Birbalsingh can not see that the logic of her proposal here is directly analogous to letting the most disruptive school childen or the least responsible parents decide whether or not a school should have any rules!

With Becky leading this, her commitment to evidence and her understanding of workload challenges, I think we can be confident that this review will be helpful - particularly if everyone takes the opportunity to engage in the consultations.

I've been living in Germany but I am beginning to plan a route back to the UK, probably to London. I want to train to be a Clerk to Governors, ideally online this summer. The NGA course is not available to individuals. Does anyone know of alternatives? @ruthagnew @HarryZiman ?

I don't understand the motivation of those who seek to undermine ResearchEd. I saw it being born and have marvelled at the commitment and energy of Tom and his colleagues. Maybe the critics can't imagine the idea of people doing something simply because they believe it helps.
Some thoughts to set the record straight about researchED, because truth and integrity matters, even on Twitter.

Got a bit emotional reading this thread. 25 years ago, my eldest child was almost 3. He started school in a classroom built with funds for reducing infant class sizes.
25 years ago New Labour were elected into power. Ten weeks later they brought forward a HUGE White Paper, Excellence in Schools, covering all parts of school reform. I've read back over it today & it's quite something! So, what did it say & what can we learn from it? 🧵...

Advanced British Standard? Advanced bs. Clearly the name needs work. But I suspect that's the least of its problems. It won't happen.
I'd be so proud if there were a file on me. There won't be, but maybe I should try harder to annoy our Gillian.

Lots of glossy photos here of the Secretary of State for Education. Me - I’d like to pay tribute instead to the headteachers, CEOs, and other school staff who have had to navigate their way through a crisis that was not of their making. You have been amazing.
Ensuring children and staff are safe will always be my top priority as Education Secretary. 🧵Here's a thread on the action we've been taking this week to protect buildings and minimise disruption to education from RAAC: 1/7
