A band of determined, committed volunteers kept SOB's campaign on the road. November 1990 & our model bus reached Hackney on a West End to Leyton journey. Classic case of 'bunching' as a real 38 bus drew up behind. Can't imagine how the destination switched to Leyton Green!

March 1990 - A Save Our Buses sit-in with Edwardian dress! It highlighted the 38s historic links with Lea Bridge Road from 1912 Must have been the most peaceful 'hijack' ever. No arrests necessary! The lengths people will go, just to catch a bus home from the West End....😀

In the 1990s London's Buses ran special reduced Boxing Day schedules. Key routes ran to previously served destinations, replacing normal services. Boxing Day '94 was to be route 38's final seasonal extension to Walthamstow. Though we didn't know this at the time. 2/2

Boxing Day 1994 "Songs Of Praise" greeted the return of Route 38 to Lea Bridge Road, according to the Hackney Gazette. For one day only the full 38 service was restored. Buses ran through from Victoria to Walthamstow Central. Time for SOB members to burst into song...... 1/2

Strong public support & seasonal events kept SOB's 38 bus campaign rolling! For 78 years, route 38 played a key role in Waltham Forest's public transport. At one stage buses ran between Chingford & Victoria. December 1990 - A special guest turned up to lend support....

Sat 24th Feb 1990. All Change For Lea Bridge Road! New bus, 56 replaced West End routes 38 & 55. However, the 38 still ran out of Leyton garage on Sundays & Bank Holidays! On these days, special 'garage' journeys appeared until 1997, retaining historic Lea Bridge Rd links.

Two pivotal events early in 1990. From a late Jan public meeting, Save Our Buses (SOB) was born. By Mid Feb a March & Rally was organised. A 38 to Leyton Baker's Arms passes protesters on Lea Bridge Road. A week later the 38 & 55 were gone but SOB's battle had only just begun.

June '23 marked 111 yrs of the iconic 38 on London Streets. Buses ran from Leyton garage in 1912. As a festive diversion, we're revisiting the 38's Waltham Forest connections. 1990 - Routes 38 & 55, axed from Lea Bridge Rd ending West End links. SOB's passenger fightback began!

London's Christmas Day experience is indeed unique! Unlike major cities around the globe, there's no public transport. @TfL Elsewhere, people enjoy the sights, get to work, visit friends & family on trains, trams & buses. @MayorofLondon Time for Our Capital City to catch up!

Dec 2018 - TfL axed route 25 between Holborn & Oxford Circus. The Capital's busiest bus no longer reached Shops, Entertainment, Restaurants, Festive displays. In 2 yrs Patronage slumped from 20.2m to 11.5m, now it's 10.5m. @MayorofLondon Restore West End Links On The 25 Bus!

And they want us to sit around a table with these international corporate slavery apps?

Whilst apps are unregulated and our working practices remain undefined. It’s nonsense to be talking about reform
