Ahh I've been waiting to be asked this and nobody has until now! His full name is Solo Walker - as in he is walking alone. I had the name in my head for a couple of years before finding the character to go with it! #PrimarySchoolBookClub
A2b It’s great when children get to hear about the author’s craft-from the initial ideas and the drafting process to the final book. Seeing it is long process and that they don’t need to get their writing perfect first time is so important! #primaryschoolbookclub

A2a I always find that books themselves provide one of the best ‘ways in’ to discuss sensitive issues. Relating the issues to the characters they’ve become invested helps the children put themselves in their shoes & is a good starting point for discussion. #PrimarySchoolBookClub
A2 - I find that stories often provide a vehicle to addressing really important themes; discussing these in relation to the fictional characters (such as Solo) can help children explore issues in a safe way. #PrimarySchoolBookClub 📚

I loved it. I slightly regretted reading it on public transport as there were moments when I would have preferred to be alone with my emotions. A rollercoaster ride, often hard to read as an outside observer as I was desperate for support to arrive sooner. #PrimarySchoolBookClub
A1. I thought this was a timely, sensitive and empathetic book-a window into the serious effects of food poverty and parental mental health on a child but told in a warm and sometimes humorous way, making it so accessible for young readers. I loved it. #PrimarySchoolBookClub
