Junta troops bombarded the Chin State town of Thantlang on Friday, damaging more than 30 houses and forcing residents to flee their homes, according to local media. #WhatsHappeningInMyanmar

#beaking;“The burning of Thantlang Town, Chin State is quickly spreading to upper block and lower block of the town. The fire is known to have started by the shelling of a lot of rocket-propelled grenades by the junta after one of its soldier is killed by CDF”Local media reports

More than 100 houses have been burned down to ground within 4 hours. The fire is started by the military junta’s rocket-propelled grenades shelling and reaching across five blocks from lower to upper blocks – names are Zunghmung, Market, Biakinn, Lungtial, and TABC blocks.

It has been said before regarding other ethnic states and needs to be asked again now. If this was happening in Yangon, would there still be virtual silence from the international community, and no UNSC meeting?

Concerning reports from Chin State in #Myanmar of the burning of homes and churches in Thantlang. We are closely monitoring developments in the State and discussing with partners, including at the UNSC. The military must end the violence and ensure the protection of civilians.

STATEMENT AND URGENT APPEAL ON THE BOMBARDMENT OF THANTLANG, CHIN STATE, BY TERRORIST MILITARY JUNTA FORCES

A combined force of troops from LIB 269, 222 and LID 11 based in Thantlang have set fire to the abandoned town to fight off CDF fighters who shot & killed one killed one of them who broke into shops to steal goods. The inferno is likely to consume the entire town as it spreads.
