Scaffolding a theme based thesis statement and what section of a what, how, why paragraph with Year 10 today. I absolutely love using highlighters to help students remain focused with their work and help check their writing has met the intention.

write a word bank for year 6 to create one of these pieces of writing. separate the vocabulary into categories and put it in a table. use some of the year 5/6 spellings. use british english spelling and don't capitalise unless it is a proper noun.

One of the easiest things I do with ChatGPT, is when I've put a model text into it, I ask it to write me a word bank. I'll put my prompts in the next tweet. Saves me so much time.

With a particular focus on weaving AO3 into responses (identified from yesterday's WCF), today I trialled the structure strip with Y11 to analyse masculinity in 'Macbeth' 👑 Lots of positive feedback and clear progress again 💪

Preparing annotations before teaching helps guide discussions on the text and key quotes more effectively. While it adds to the workload, it allows me to teach to the highest level and scaffold down through targeted questioning and whole class engagement.

Before analysing the significance of Eva's name(s), we had to attempt to link the etymology (so many beautiful ones!) to the names of all classmates! Lovely to discuss/debate and enhanced our post-reading massively! One of my favorite lessons so far this year! Buzzing🐝🙏

Reposting this as it worked amazingly well with my Yr11s last year - beginning to use the booklets again, now with my new Yr11s to build consistency with exam skills for their English GCSEs

Added the booklets to my dropbox in bio, link: dropbox.com/scl/fo/etb3amb… Hope this helps anyone with their Yr11s!

Academic Reading a 🧵 Remember when you packed up, headed to university and got given that FIRST higher level academic reading? I remember it so vividly it’s almost ENGRAVED onto my brain, no one had taught me how to read or digest info in journal articles. #edutwitter

Building on our quote explosions, we picked up the pace and explored authorial intent - developing our identification of methods, ability to comment meaningfully, and range of analytical verbs 🎯👏

Very excited to speak at #rED24 today at 11:25 (Session 3) in the Dining Hall. My session is full of practical tips you can use from Monday to secure 100% attention in lessons. There will be videos of me using the strategies in my own classroom as a concrete model.
