Today we are at Okuapemman Senior High School for the first day of Professional Learning Community (PLC) school cluster training for representatives from 12 Eastern Region SHSs and SHTSs. Lots of enthusiasm and commitment to transform senior high school teaching and learning.
We are hopeful that these intensive classroom-level efforts across the 3 districts will lead to improved learning outcomes when the next annual evaluation survey is carried out in July 2023. 4/4

Today we have visited Bongo SHS with @gheduservice staff from Upper East Regional Office to sit in on the school's weekly PLC session. Good participation from teachers and effective visible leadership from the school's Head and Assistant Head.
Today we are in Yagaba SHTS with @gheduservice North East Regional Office staff to participate in their weekly Professional Learning Community (PLC) session. Currently discussing ways of developing communication and collaboration skills in learners.
Whilst we were in the North East Region we paid a visit to the new STEM SHS in Kpasenkpe. Teachers are committed to applying what they are learning in their PLCs and are excited about the new STEM curriculum. Early days still but the potential here is enormous.
Today we visited St John's Integrated SHS in Navrongo. 76 of the school's 818 learners are hearing impaired and, after a foundation year, they are taught in mixed classes with support from 11 dedicated interpreters. An inclusive environment where all learners know how to sign.
21 years after working as an English Teacher in Wulugu Senior High School I am very excited to return and participate in the school's weekly PLC session. If we had such sessions when I was teaching here from 2000 to 2002 I am sure I would have been a more effective teacher!
