⛰️Dig-and-dump or bag-and-bin? That is the question @MaryAnnOchota asks in her latest column for #TheGreatOutdoors. "I plonked myself down by the ford and swigged my water. Then I got a waft. That nothing-else-it-could-be telltale smell of human poo..." thegreatoutdoorsmag.com/news/opinion-d…

This is an incredibly disappointing ruling. Access to wild spaces is already highly limited in England and wild camping even more so. We hope that the obvious strength of feeling on this issue from the outdoor community can drive a reappraisal. theguardian.com/environment/20…

This thread is probably the best I've seen that simply explains why we don't have fusion yet. There's other factors, like needing better plasma simulations & high temp superconductors, but basically if we'd put the money in we could have reasonably expected fusion 30 years ago.

Why is progress in nuclear fusion so slow? We spend all this R&D money, shouldn't it be online by now? Even physicists joke about the 'fusion constant' of 30 years until a working reactor There are many reasons, but one problem could be solved right now.🧵 1/9

Two consecutive coronal hole high speed streams and a CME ploughing through those. We could be in for some very nice geomagnetic and auroral activity over the coming days! 🔭

Heads up! A fairly large CME is headed towards Earth! Per the NASA CCMC: Earth Shock Arrival Time is 2022-08-16T22:22Z (+- 7 hours). The source of this CME was a filament eruption from AR 13076 lifting off at approximately 2022-08-14T11:42Z.

Vodafone now says "we’re putting corrective action in place from today" and will make "a public apology". They've offered my family an apology and a donation to a charity of our choice, but I won't accept either until I've seen the terms of the action and the public apology.

All the Amazon returns have been retrieved back to the office and added to the clearance website. Selling most of them for the cost of p&p and the original print cost. Better than going to be pulped which tends to be more typical. secondsandsales.com

We applaud @Mo_Farah for his bravery in telling his heartbreaking story - he underlines the human reality at the heart of so many stories like his - and the desperate need for safe and humane routes for people seeking asylum.
