Mentorship / people who actually care - my biggest draw to IR and DR. Albert was a KEY resource for me during the last application season. I’m 100% here for current applicants. Reach out to discuss personal statements, get comic relief from ERAS, or workshop interview jokes 🔥
Now that this years match is over, an invitation for rising MS4s: I reviewed >10 personal statements from matched MS4s in multiple specialties, sent my PS to 20+, had 10+ phone calls, 10+ text chats with applicants. Please reach out for FREE advice and app review if you’d like!
I’m so stoked to pursue my journey as a physician and an interventional radiologist with @MountSinaiIR I can think of no better way to kick off 6 years of IR/DR than skiing with my future co-res @ChloeGCross!
So excited to join the @MountSinaiIR IR family!! ✨
LIVE @MountSinaiIR #MATCH2021 Huge CONGRATULATIONS to our #IRad class of 2027, Michael Novack @MichaelRNovack, Farnaz Dadrass @farnazdadrassmd, Chloe Cross! 🎉🍾 🥂 Welcome to the family! We can’t wait to work with you. #IRadRes #WomenInIR @SIRRFS @SIRspecialists
Next in a series of IR procedure starter kits: the subcutaneous port! It was such a blast developing this kit with @MichaelRepajic We’re so thankful for guidance from @TulaneRadiology faculty and residents on this project 🙌
IR Procedure Starter Kit Subcutaneous port placement (eg: port-a-cath) is a procedure that involves the placement of an implanted device with the tip positioned at the cavoatrial junction that allows for rapid, recurrent central venous access intermittently for months to years.
Co-hosting an inclusive, open discussion of TACE and the PRECISION V trial (2010) with @AdlaiGrayson tonight! All questions are welcome, excited to learn more about clinical trials in IR
We would like to extend an invitation to all interested trainees and IRIGs to participate in the second session of the TNIRJC! This session will be co-hosted on October 29th at 6PM PST by Tulane U and Howard U. #FOAMed #IRad #TwittIR #MedStudentTwitter #MedTwitter
I’m excited to share the TACE Starter Kit I co-created with the @SIRRFS! The core concept: to create a very basic, very visual overview of common IR procedures. This is the first of a series. #iamIR #futureradres #radiology #interventionalradiology
As we embark on a year of remote-everything, it’s so refreshing to work with innovators like @austin_gawa who are prepared to embrace this virtual space to maximize connection and learning Tulane IRIG is so stoked to get involved with Transnational IR Journal Club 🙌🏼 @tnirjc
Excited to be involved in this initiative! We have 7 institutions currently participating. It’s open-access to anyone so reach out if you or your IRIG are interested! @SIRRFS @futureradres #IRad #FOAMed #FOAMrad #MedStudentTwitter #MedTwitter
In general, 50% of patients who have required intervention for stenosis of dialysis fistula will need a repeat intervention within 6 months. This single-blind, 1:1 randomized multi center trial (n=330) suggests use of drug-coated balloons will reduce need for re-intervention
Patients on dialysis who had native upper-extremity arteriovenous fistula stenosis had drug-coated or standard balloon angioplasty after initial transluminal angioplasty. The drug-coated was superior to the standard balloon and was noninferior for access circuit-related SAEs.
As always with SIR RFS, all the good stuff in one condensed and easy to-use spot. Going to make this “highly suggested” reading for the Tulane IR interest group! #TwittIR #IRad
Want to know more about some of the most impactful clinical trials that have helped shape the field of interventional radiology? Check out these summaries and links to the articles here! bit.ly/39AIJXw #TwittIR #IRad #MedTwitter #MedEd #MSCedu20
Research meeting with the awesome folks at @TulaneRadiology on a TACE project we’re working on. Dr. Caridi’s Zoom backdrop is legendary ✨
Smooth, beautiful, and highly educational TACE with Dr. Caridi today. Doxorubicin on Oncozene microspheres - how well do these beads work compared to the competition? #TwittIR #IAmIR #TACE #Oncozene #TulaneIR
SIR RFS no doubt the place for all things IR! Confident that Tulane IRIG will remain robust this year, despite likely absence of burrito bar from our lunch lectures - we’ll certainly adapt. We love this field #visiontoheal #IRisLife #TulaneIRIG
IR interest group leaders look at the SIR RFS website for more ideas. Share and tag @SIRRFS in your IRIG zoom sessions this year #IRIG #medstudenteducation #IRad #interventionalradiology #SIR #societyofinterventionalradiology #vir #MSCirig20
Grateful for the field of IR and the SIR Resident Fellow Student Section - not only bringing medical students to the table, but helping us develop our voices in the #TwittIR space. Many thanks @AlbertJiaoMD for this excellent piece! 🙌🏼
Want to get plugged into the interventional radiology community? This well-crafted article on #TwittIR will guide you through developing a professional twitter account and how to optimize your social media presence. bit.ly/3dXzh11 #MedTwitter #MSCedu20 @AlbertJiaoIR
Step 1 had become a race to the bottom between NBME and UWorld to test increasingly granular subject matter. Preclinical didactics were largely ignored in this model. Let’s explore new ways to develop relationship between programs and prospective residents
A large majority of U.S. residency program directors do not agree with changing scoring on the USMLE Step 1 exam to pass/fail, and they believe that scores on the Step 2 Clinical Knowledge exam will carry greater weight once the new system is implemented.
Theresa Caridi, MD, FSIR is Division Director of Interventional Radiology and Vice Chair of Interventional Affairs at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Caridi has served on the SIR Foundation Board of Directors since 2017. #SIRRFS #IamIR #Irad #sirdni2020 #vir
IR docs could be visiting patients in their own homes and performing small procedures - reducing hospital readmission and supporting people in times of need. I love this
#SIR20VIR featured the latest research in IR, including a novel house call model! Through IR's providing image-guided treatments at home, access to care & patient outcomes improve. It's a win-win! #MSCResearch20 #VIR #IR #IRad #SIR #patientcare | buff.ly/3hkoPna
Excellent conversation last night!! This community is just awesome 🙌
