Two months after the Court of Appeal ruled that @Meta CAN be sued in Kenya by Facebook Content Moderators for human rights violations, @Aaroncheruiyot has proposed a bill at the @Senate_KE meant to stop workers from suing Tech companies in Kenya.

We must start listening to what tech workers have been saying for years now. The level of exploitation by tech companies under the guise of digital work is insufferable. Prioritize the health of our workers-NOT tech companies. #LiabilityShouldFollowHarm #PeopleBeforeCash

We huoni a problem with your statement? Demonstrate how bundles expire.

Hehe, but there's non expiry bundles. Data is technically Mbps, which doesn't expire. So how do you convert that to megabytes

Very good on the consumer protection front. Next stop should be expiry of data bundles. @denniskioko

Congratulations 🎉

In some personal news, which I’m very excited about. Come see me in Nairobi!

It’s going to be interesting to see how @Meta responds to this. They took the South African government to court over something similar aimed at distributing COVID-19 relief.

"WhatsApp! It’s The Taxman!” KRA targets to roll out a WhatsApp bot that would enable taxpayers to generate electronic tax invoices using the popular messaging app. #NTVTonight

A clarion call to all women and men of Kenya.- join us! They are hindering our access to public spaces we want to reclaim our safe spaces spiritually bonded to heroes like Wangari Maathai. We cannot continue living in this indignity and suffering.

I used my question paper to prove that CLE had given me false tabulations. (They awarded me a mark in a question I didn't do & zero in the I one I did.) Despite a Tribunal directed mediation (which turned out to be a sham since there was no mediator & CLE's CEO chaired #OccupyCLE

Hackers get hacked. They weaponized public participation for so long that they think actual public participation is an abuse of process.

Is public participation necessary in a representative democracy? have the courts extended their jurisdiction in a matter which they ought not to? Today has turn out to be an abused process where citizens got an opportunity to abuse the system …ventilate on what is going wrong…

“This appears to be an interesting petition. Quite an interesting one.” Kenyan High Court Judge Lawrence Mugambi quipped at the end of a hearing on the case against Meta. He will deliver his judgement on 29 January 2025. @waikwawanyoike @FPA_Africa @BBCAfrica @akannampilly

The petitioners are supported by @amnesty @thekhrc @LawSocietyofKe all urging the Kenyan court to pay attention to what the algorithm and content moderation practices of @facebook are in order to protect Kenyans.

This morning the High Court will hear arguments on whether it has jurisdiction to hear a case challenging the @facebook algorithm for allowing and promoting unlawful content. Abrham Meareg, Fisseha Tekle & @katibainstitute vs @facebook
