I’ve decided to use both X and BlueSky for now. So here are a few pix from an Abortion in Louisiana conversation that I got to be part off this evening. Lines around the block, standing room only. Organized by @AbortionInUSA . At my favorite Baldwin & Co Coffee & Bookstore.

Our department’s 2nd annual Dia de los Muertos celebration w/ a delicious lunch and pan de muertos. We celebrated Mahalia Jackson, a NOLA born singer. A major theatre named after her is where we hold our graduation almost every May. #ihsd #DiaDeMuertos2024 @TulaneSPHTM

This is my story until not too long ago. It is a story of many of our students today, as we are still eagerly waiting for some to join us this academic year.

Years ago, I struggled with visas Today, I see my students struggling with visas Unfair, unjust, inequitable systems are still in place

How broken the system is. Also, I have a paper (on a pretty hot topic) that I'm having an extremely hard time finding even one reviewer for & don't want to ask PhD students for free labor under the pretense of getting experience either. #publication #reviewer #PeerReview

I am an editor-in-chief for an open-access journal. A submitted paper had a reviewer that contacted the author and asked for cash in return for a favorable review. Thanks to the author for calling this to our attention. #publishing #ethics

Dr. Mai Do has done some tremendous research pertaining to stigma and mental illness, especially as it relates to Vietnamese Americans. Cultural differences have to be taken into account when trying to achieve positive health outcomes. More: latimes.com/projects/vietn…
