you (esp normal conservatives) should just act normal and un-opinionated during the jury selection process. you could literally save someone’s life. missing a few days of work is fine, don’t be that wise guy who acts like a nut to escape jury duty (a civic duty)

something I'm slowly coming to terms with is that maybe the old school royal society way of doing science where it's just a hobby of the rich might actually be better because making people's livelihood depend on producing scientific results is neuroethologically doomed
