Ethereum's storage, with memory locations as hashes of variable slots & keys, isn't easily deciphered. To list all the token holders you had to run complex queries, build local databases and reconstruct the state by aggregating historical events. Or you could use TokenFlow.

Please don't assume users don't run full nodes. Exchanges do. Fast withdrawal liquidity providers do. Oracles do. There are many users who are not Validators that run full nodes. Users don't just mean average Joe that can't tell a proper L2 from a Sovereign Rollup
