I really don’t understand the evolutionary advantage of these horseshoe crabs that get flipped over so easily in the waves. We righted hundreds of them (which is encouraged by local authorities), but it is baffling. I guess 440 million years of evolution is working for them!

Assateague Island National Seashore campsites are primitive (pit toilets), but right next to the beach. It doesn’t make $$ sense to have a lot of expensive infrastructure in a park that was only created because of a 1962 hurricane that forced everyone off this barrier island.
