You may have seen details, given by some outlets online, about a low-level transit by the Red Arrows across parts of Yorkshire and Lincolnshire this morning - this flight is not taking place due to a change in training priorities and sorties today.

Recently-refurbished 50020 at Doncaster 29/3/81. Not quite ex works, it shows early accumulation of brake dust on the bogies and soot around the exhausts - possibly the product of a few separate test runs after it had spent several months apart @_doublearrow 📸 Colin Whitbread

A portrait of minty-fresh 56117 by Colin Mytton at BREL Crewe, 29/1/83. History does not record the reasons for Crewe’s preference for grey bodyside grilles but they featured to the end of production there. @_doublearrow

Colin Mutton’s capture of new 58003 returning to BREL Doncaster on 28 June 1983. It would have been surrounded by a sea of Rail Blue (and Grey) and must have seemed enthrallingly futuristic to any enthusiasts around to witness it. Doesn’t look too bad now 🥰 @_doublearrow

I can’t be sure, but the opening soundtrack moments of the first episode of Paddington seem to feature a Class 40 idling, and then pulling away. Abt 18 seconds in… @cfpsnews @_doublearrow @rlonguk @MrTimDunn

5 January 1976. The first episode of Paddington was broadcast on BBC1. It was based on the Paddington Bear books by Michael Bond, and narrated by Michael Hordern. In all, 56 episodes, and 3 specials aired, until 18 April 1980.

I’ve spent the past 9 days behind the scenes with Brighton & Hove Albion to write a feature about a landmark week in the club's history. But also a normal week in the life of Premier League club. Which is intense. 🧵 about how it happened & unfolded. 1/n
