It was blindingly obvious that Labour were going to implement austerity. People hoped Labour had some secret plan up their sleeve. Sadly the secret plan was more cuts.
"Conspiracy of silence" in relation to public spending cuts was one of the most repeated phrases during the election. It's just not credible for Labour & Keir Starmer to now claim they didn't know the state of the public finances. It all continues to erode trust in politics.
