Proud to announce that @txhealthplans was honored to be present at the Governor's signing ceremony for HB 12, extending #Medicaid coverage for new moms in Texas to 12 months. A great step forward for #maternalhealth in our state. #HB12 @TXlege

Texas is invested in improving women’s health outcomes and supporting families. Proud to sign new laws to extend postpartum benefits for new mothers, provide historic funding for the Thriving Texas Families Program, and eliminate taxes on products for women and babies.

Today Governor @GregAbbott_TX signed into law SB490, requiring hospitals to provide patients with a clear and detailed receipt of what they are being charged. Thank you, Senator @SenBryanHughes, for working with me in protecting patients rights. #txlege

Would you buy a car, a house, or even a meal without knowing how much it cost? Of course not, but this is what is happening with your medical billing. I authored HB 1973, Hospital Itemized Billing, which mandates hospitals tell you precisely what they are charging you. #txlege

It’s amazing how many people I meet in Washington who believe that subsidizing poor people makes them lazy, but that subsidizing corporations makes them innovative.

The prices are too damn high. 71% of uninsured have had medical debt in the last five years. But so have 61% of insured. npr.org/sections/healt… No surprise that 1/3 of Texans have skipped care because they couldn't find out what it would cost them.

Dear Austin... Pls chill the fuck out with the housing inspection/red tape overkill Yeah, make sure there aren't live wires hanging from ceilings and shit but there is a housing supply emergency right now Start acting like it instead of doing HOA cosplay

Very bullish on Austin housing. With Staff continually creating new paperwork, inspections and hurdles to jump through, housing supply will be severely constrained for years to come. Just in the last 3 years it’s become 2x more difficult to build with new hurdles added weekly
