Signs of winter: Fantastic sunset on Saturday night in Silverton. Weather i supposed to be fairly dry until Friday.
Silverton update: A fine time was had by all on Friday at the tree lighting at Town Square Park. If you blinked, you missed it.
NFL: Kept this USA Today prediction from Sept. on coaches on hot seat. They picked 7. Saleh, Allen and Eberflus (below) all have been fired. Also had Jags and Dallas coaches on list. We'll see. Also had Bills and Eagles, who combined have won 21 games. Ah, don't think so there.
College football: Was interested in how quickly the Pac-12 teams would adjust to new leagues. Turned out pretty good as both the Ducks (Big Ten) and ASU (Big 12) won conference titles. Both deserve tons of credit for thriving in new environments.
Santiam Canyon update: Was doing some research on the Linn County Lamb & Wool Fair in Scio and found their logo for the May, 2025 show. I think it's pretty cool! What do you think?
Silverton update: Bright blue sky out there right now, but it's a cool 39 degrees. Supposed to be decent weather Friday for the annual tree lighting at Town Square Park. Festivities start at 6, tree will be lit at about 7 and Our Town will be providing free cocoa.
Silverton land use: City Planning Commission will review an application at 7pm on Tuesday,Dec. 10 at City Hall that would call for construction of 20 apartments ( 8 1BR and 12 2BR) in 3 stories on the plot behind the Starbuck's next to Roth's.
Black Friday: Can't reminder last time I went out shopping on Black Friday. Let the record show that by 9:40 a.m. on Friday, 11-29-24 I had left Bauman's Farms with 13 pounds of apples from their annual $1 a pound sale. Brought home galas, fujis, honeycrisps and evergreens.
On the road again, Portland: Our room at the Sentinel had a bar of soap, so I think this dispenser labeled "Aura Remedy" was some sort of hand/face lotion. Was my aura better upon leaving the establishment? Hard to say. I always thought my aura was pretty much off-the-charts.
On the road again, Portland: Stayed at this neat, funky, old style hotel in downtown called the Sentinel. Doors had these old-fashioned knockers. Somehow reminded me of Dickens. Must be the season.
Books: Made a stop at Powell's on Sunday. Was looking for some mid-ish 20th century stuff from Edward Abbey, John O'Hara and Erskine Caldwell and Powell's did not disappoint. Support your local independent bookstore!
