This is valid, and also Texas faced 5 of the 6 teams who had a losing record in SEC play SMU won the AAC in 2023 for its first conference title in 40 years and now is playing for the ACC title Oregon couldn’t win the P12 the last 3 years but is playing for the B1G title
Something to consider when talking about how great the SEC is over the next week or so: Texas won the Big 12 once in the last 15 years but it reached the SEC Championship Game in its first year in the league.
On a weekend where we saw fights in just about every single rivalry game, last night’s game seems to be an outlier. Georgia vs. Georgia Tech showed nothing but class from both teams.
This year UGA is 112th in the country in penalty yds per game assessed against its opponents. Last year it was 121st. The year before that it was 122nd. On behalf of all UGA fans, please know we are uninterested in any hot takes about officiating.
UGA got away with targeting. And Tech just got away with a blatant, egregious offensive PI with a pick on that TD. The reality is, these refs just aren’t calling much either way. Outside of that blatant DPI in the 4th, Tech only has 9 penalty yards.
A lot of people mad the officials didn’t review Dan Jackson’s hit for targeting They also didn’t review the catch/fumble on GT’s final Q4 drive They missed basic stuff like a false start by the TE on GT’s first drive They’re just bad. Don’t confuse incompetence for conspiracy
