⬇️ and significant post extubation/ ICU acquired dysphagia & dysphonia due to laryngeal ETT injuries. The role of #criticalcare #slpeeps is more important now than ever to minimise impact of secondary aspiration pneumonia in #COVID19 survivors @CriticalCareSLT @GSTT_ICU

After having treated more than 100 ICU COVID19 patients, I can confirm that #ICUAW #weakness is a relevant problem in survivors.

To explain our rationale... COVID-19 seems to present as 2 phenotypes: initially high compliance with poor V/Q match and low recruitability, ‘dry’ lungs; versus subsequent low compliance, ‘wet’ lungs, potentially recruitable.
