New from @patrynard: For all its flaws, the Iowa Caucus did provide important benefits to the national and local party (even if its downsides outweighed them). Democrats would be wise to consider how to replicate the good parts of Iowa elsewhere. iowastartingline.com/2022/12/02/be-…

Walking back kill the #iacaucus.
New: DNC Chair @TomPerez tells me he favors an end to caucuses but there are hurdles to abolishing them. And he expects the party to review the Iowa and New Hampshire order for future contests, although he stopped short of saying if he wants that changed. nbcnews.com/politics/2020-…
This. Dems are not killing #iacaucus tonight.
Sigh. No, that's not what's happening. The rules package the convention will vote on -- the one passed by the convention Rules Committee on July 30 -- does not include any such provision. 1/ twitter.com/dmrcaucus/stat…
Pretty sure it isn't actually news that he believes this. It also won't be up to him.
Tom Perez tells @AP that the 2020 caucuses should be the last the party ever holds. apnews.com/e888a8c7620d5e…
This story on the demise of the Sanders campaign (yes, I know he's still "running") and stories like it of other campaigns, reminds me if Tolstoy 's line: "Happy families are all alike; every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way." nytimes.com/2020/03/21/us/…
Been saying this for a while. People are exhausted and just want things to go back to something reasonable. It is one reason why Warren's "big structural change" did not catch on. It was scary. And that was before the virus. "Steady" is what's craved now.
I realize this is the wrong app to put this question to, but I wonder how many voters, on the left and the right, just want a return to “normal.” Maybe that’s “establishment.” Maybe that’s “moderate.” Maybe that’s “predictable.” Whatever it is, it will be hard to poll...
Good for him. The honorable thing to do at this point. Now if only Bloomberg would take the hint.

So it all went well. Just landed at BWI where I started at 6:30 this morning. BWI-ORD-DSM-ORD-BWI. Got my #iacaucus surveys!
Yep. To me this seems like the solution to the early state problem for the Democrats. NH wouldn't like it, but it makes sense. And IA , NV could keep their caucuses.

Big, if true. And it's probably true.
Biden gets early calls from the networks based on the exit polls, showing him up nearly 25 pts -- say 45 to 21 or so.
Sitting in a Des Moines McDonald's, next to a group of older folks talking about Bernie Sanders. He's a socialist; he's proud of it, one says incredulously. And he likes Fidel. Another quotes the Bible and adds that the fabric of the country is being torn by people like Bernie.
Stopping in to watch State Central Committee certification of #iacaucus results was my bonus for today. Here's why I'm really in Des Moines. Thanks to @SCohen22, @troymprice and other @iowademocrats for facilitating this in-caucus survey. And thanks to voters who filled it out.
Motion to certify #iacaucus passes @iowademocrats State Central Committee, 22 yes, 13 no. So I think that means the 2020 Iowa Caucuses are finally done.
Someone asks are we certifying the #iacaucus results as true and accurate? Answer given is that the results are being certified. Period. Motion to close debate passes. Motion is to certify the results of the caucus. Roll call underway.
Concern being expressed about potential challenge to Iowa Delegates being seated at DNC. #iacaucus
