Absolutely no words for this: UN Security Council was told this week that "there had been reports of over 130 women committing mass suicide as a way to escape further sexual violence" at the hands of the RSF. middleeasteye.net/news/un-securi…

NEW: Researchers show we are vastly undestimating the cost of the war in Sudan. At least 26,000 people have been killed in the crossfire in Khartoum alone acc to @LSHTM Even more are dying of disease and hunger. They are buried in the capital's homes and streets. Link below.

I keep thinking abt how 11+ million have been displaced and thousands are fleeing as we speak bcs of the war in #Sudan and no country has issued a refugee visa. I am hoping that countries in the region and in L America with leftist governments will take the lead. #endborders

The abuse hurled at Sara - one of the most committed & consistent advocates for Sudan - when she highlights our parallels with South Sudan shows just how deep & blinding Sudanese prejudice is Esp. considering the solidarity the South Sudanese community has shown us in this war.

Talking to my mom about the # of posts I’ve seen of kids found lost to their families, there’s a whole generation of kids who will be missing possibly forever. Mom: just like the generation of South Sudanese children separated/lost to their families. #KeepEyesOnSudan

Its impossible to look at this video and not be reminded of the images of Serb General Ratko Mladic loading the men and boys of Srebrenica Bosnia onto buses to be led to their deaths in shallow mass graves. That was a genocide in Bosnia in 1995. In Sudan today its a footnote.

Wow - The UN is reporting that more than 9,000 households or more than 45,000 people have been displaced by the RSF attacks in Gezira in the past week alone.

I spoke to @BBC today about the horrific crimes the RSF is committing across Gezira and why the international community isn't speaking up or taking action to stop it @CSISAfrica

How can this still fly under the f*ing radar?! More people than the entire populations of 🇬🇷🇵🇹🇨🇿🇸🇪🇯🇴🇭🇹🇨🇺🇩🇴 displaced by war in just 1 country. If they formed a country, it’d be larger than 110 other countries in the world. “Tell me the global system is racist without telling me”

🚨With over 10.9 million internally displaced, #Sudan faces the largest displacement crisis globally. Ongoing conflict exacerbates the situation. IOM is on the ground providing vital support to those affected. 👉 Learn more about our regional response: bit.ly/3Yqp0EY

'They ransacked my home and left my town in ruins.'   Sudan’s civil war has displaced millions and left Khartoum devastated. BBC’s @moehash1 revisits his childhood neighborhood in Omdurman amid the ongoing crisis.

#NobelPeacePrize had deserving options this year—nuclear disarmament is an worryingly worthy cause. #Sudan’s 🇸🇩 Emergency Response Rooms were also nominated; their courage, resilience and ingenuity in the face of a massive, brutal, neglected war should still be commended by all.

Leaving Sudan so humbled and inspired by our humanity and the deep care we have for each other and our country. In the midst of war & deep suffering, trademark Sudanese generosity, warmth and helpfulness is in full force - keeping people *alive* in every meaning of the word.

Not a single Sudani woman at the negotiation table — or in the room even —but somehow ending the war & ensuring lasting peace lies in our hands?! The women whove been brutalized & (literally) enslaved by RSF, & completely sidelined by SAF & “govt” b4 the war? MAKE IT MAKE SENSE

Hannah Babiker Reposted

Talkin about “Sudanese women, we need YOU to ensure peace in Sudan” Bitch how did we get in it?!? Why are you not directing your attention to the folks sitting RIGHT NEXT TO YOU at the table calling the shots and supplying the weapons to do the shooting?!

Hannah Babiker Reposted

A million times we said, “words are not enough. this will mean nothing if there is no mechanism to FORCE the warring parties to commit to doing what they talked about.” And instead of listening to us, you decided to dump the responsibility on *checks notes* SUDANESE WOMEN?!?!
