Hard to overestimate the importance of this information— only released through the courage & tenacity of those affected. This is clear evidence of what usually operates below the waterline of public debate— how a subject, a nation & a people became unspeakable. Gagging in action.

For months, the State Library of Victoria has been telling everyone that the cancellation of Teen Writing Bootcamp had nothing to do with Palestine or our social media posts. Well, we got our FOI request back. See for yourself. 🧵

Appreciated this reflection on whether schools are genuinely inclusive for all students and their families

This is how narratives are made. New research says children who ‘are not school-ready’ are twice as likely to be persistently absent. The author says “School is where children develop & flourish, academically, emotionally, socially, and physically.” 🧵1/16 tinyurl.com/762kc6an

To crow about a surplus at this moment is vile mockery. Australia is in an acute crisis of public provision in health, education, housing, disaster response and preparedness. Systems are failing. Things are falling apart. People have died - and are dying - for this surplus.

Many convos happening right now about what it takes to support people experiencing DFV and end violence for good. But what do people working in the sector think about what helps and what hinders? @Innovation_Unit asked & can now share what we learned: innovationunit.org/thoughts/domes…

RightWingCope's tweet image. Every day I regret having a LinkedIn account

The requirement to have left the household where violence is occurring is truly bonkers given current housing crisis. Victim survivors often need the payment IN ORDER to leave or make plans to get out. We fail so many women with these bureaucratic hoops

And you've rejected over half the people who've applied for this payment!!!! you cannot be serious, amanda

“The overfunding of private schools using public money is a symptom of a public service that has been rotted for a quarter of century by a political class with no vision beyond producing dubious, misleading statistics to deploy at the next election.”

I think it leads us away from constructivist approaches to teaching and learning, reduces teacher & student agency, & constrains learning by focusing on one thing at a time. Richer learning environments enable students to learn at greater depth through well designed activities.

Your annual reminder that most flowers you’ll find for Mother’s Day are imported and devitalised with glyphosate at their point of origin. We should celebrate the day in March like the UK, so many more Australian grown flowers would be in season then 🌹

If you're not in a position to lift people out of poverty, then how are you in a position to fund stage 3 tax cuts and increase defence spending? You made a choice to give welfare through tax cuts to high income earners, and made the choice to push people into deeper poverty.
