It starts with addressing the root causes, such as poverty, lack of affordable housing, and mental health issues. By providing supportive services and resources, we can empower those experiencing homelessness and help prevent them from becoming homeless again in the future.
According to recent statistics, the fastest-growing group of people who experience homelessness are those aged 65 and older. At WeHOPE, we have observed this significant trend. Approximately 25% of our shelter population is over the age of 62.
Soon after surpassing 150,000 all-time showers, we also surpassed 60,000 loads of laundry serviced. More than numbers to us, this represents people we have been able to serve and fulfilling our mission to help our unhoused neighbors become healthy, employed and housed. #WeHOPE
