coda the health promotion of breast cancer is a laudable goal . However we should be mindful of our strategies. To suggest that we can only have successful breast cancer awareness campaigns by using hypersexualised imagery seems to me to be a poverty of imagination.
Is there a way to use hypersexual imagery to gain attention and also educate them properly. I am sure there is. Can this be done without worsening the psychological problems of breast cancer survivors. I'm afraid not.
3/ Sexualising breast cancer campaigns enforces the continuous myth that only women get breast cancer . Despite being a minority it is important to know that men can also get breast cancer.
2/ Sexualising breast cancer campaigns may hurt breast cancer survivors. Remember that many of these women are already struggling about feeling less like women because they underwent mastectomies. Remember the campaigns aren't about saving boobies , it's about saving people.
This is an example of a much more creative approach to awareness that catches your attention and ends up actually educating you
