@BradElkanI tweet mostly about the US-Europe travel ban; occasionally about covid restrictions in general. Separated from my partner for over 660 days.

Never forget that travel restrictions are a choice. They could exempt couples, visa holders, and families. Yet they don't. They could remove them tomorrow and it wouldn't make a difference to Covid cases. They have chosen to let us suffer for their own convenience. Disgusting.
APEX has petitioned President Biden to reopen the United States to vaccinated European travelers tested prior to arrival. The banning of fully vaccinated travelers from Europe does not make scientific sense. Read more: bit.ly/3lVCw0H #LoveIsNotTourism #LiftTheTravelBan
What is the scientific rationale for continuing to deny vaccinated and tested European travelers entry into the United States? What is the epidemiological purpose of continuing these restrictions?
So now we've got word that the White House is considering plans to only allow vaccinated foreign nationals to enter the US, what sort of timeline are you expecting for a reopening to European travelers? #LoveIsNotTourism
No real update, disappointing but at least somethings being done 🤷🏻♀️ #LoveIsNotTourism
In today's COVID-19 briefing, Jeff Zients was asked to clarify the White House position regarding requiring vaccinations for foreign travelers coming into the US. His response was vague and cryptic; apparently a vaccine requirement is only "under discussion." #LoveIsNotTourism
Zients confirms White House developing plans on vaccine requirements for foreign visitors but emphasizes no decisions have been made and there are alternatives. He also reconfirms White House will not lift any travel restrictions now

I have a new piece in @TheAtlantic on the risks of ongoing international travel restrictions theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/…
At today's press briefing @PressSec was asked to give an update on the US travel restrictions against Europe. She gave another non-answer, mentioning working groups and public health officials. Nothing new, but it's good to see the media isn't giving up. #LoveIsNotTourism
It's nice to see that keeping the travel restrictions against Europe has at least stopped the spread of the Delta variant here in the US. Oh wait... 🤡
Simon Johnson (@baselinescene) and Peter Boone argue that it is not people visiting relatives in other countries who ensure that all the #COVID19 variants will spread. bit.ly/3ygIvjQ
Deputy Press Secretary @K_JeanPierre is asked about the logic of travel restrictions. She gives the exact statement @PressSec gave us a few days ago, and then quickly leaves when questioned further on the rationale. This has become totally surreal. #LoveIsNotTourism
Has anyone in #LoveIsNotTourism traveled to the US via a third country and got their ESTA canceled? My understanding is this only happens if you check in online, but some people suggest it can happen if you have a multi-city ticket. Any experiences?
