Starmer isn’t going to listen to farmers. He says he grew up on a farm all his entire family were farmers. There was me thinking his dad was a tool maker. Is he lying again? I do know he bought some land then forgot he’d bought it.

New is not always good. Land currently optimised for food production will be bought by: - property speculators - private equity - corporations offsetting carbon footprints by planting (inedible) trees 80 years ago we came close to wartime starvation. Food is our lifeblood.

I suspect thousands of the farmers in London today haven’t seen our glorious capital for a while. Many of them will appraise it anew and conclude: Our politicians have reduced many of our cities and towns to unendurable hell-scapes.They now expect the same of our countryside.
When I was at school, we were taught about how people in the Soviet Union were locked up just for saying the wrong thing. Everyone spoke about how awful it was. And how lucky we all were to be growing up in a free country. Now look at us. What a mess we've made.
