It’s fair to say that, thus far, we’ve seen no #SecondWave. Not aware of any good evidence anyone has. Patients still coming through in dribs & drabs with #Covid19UK. It’s right to stay alert: this is a nasty illness. I think, though, we can breathe a little now. Excuse the pun.

According to some, we should be on the 3rd or 4th wave by now. Easter, packed beaches, the infamous 'VE Day Conga" - it hasn't happened yet. If we can make it a few weeks past the weekend's events without a jump, I will be more optimistic than ever. Please follow the rules!

The truth is none of us know how this virus will progress. It is entirely right to prepare for a resurgence, but there is no evidence of that anywhere right now. If we all do our part, we can keep the virus at bay. We need to prepare for the worst, but hope for the best.

Austria was one of the first countries to ease their lockdown, all the way back on April 14. Latest reported daily cases - 34, 18, 36, 17, 50. (Population around 9 million) We need to be prepared for a second wave, but it should not be taken as a certainty - far from it.

If you are in a well ventilated space with few people, the risk of infection is low. The vast majority of infections happen in confined spaces. Pubs & restaurants should be allowed to open their outside seating areas with restrictions - opening in June would be a morale boost.

Here are the latest daily infection figures for the four European countries that eased their lockdowns back in mid-April (accelerating since). Denmark - 59 Norway - 14 Czech Republic - 77 Austria - 50 No second wave, not even a tiny ripple.

I wish politicians would stop using the phrase 'led by the science'. It passes responsibility to Government scientists. Ultimate authority lies with ministers. I think the public would be understanding if sometimes a minister admitted they had got it wrong. A big ask I know!

Me, panicking when I saw legend Don McLean was trending! It's fine, he is just on telly apparently.

Danish experts are confused after they've seen no rise in infections over 4 weeks after they eased their lockdown. Is it because of social distancing or due to the virus weakening they ask? Too early to draw any conclusions, but this is a good sign.

This is absolutely sickening. Shame on you @BorisJohnson @pritipatel

I hope you can help my get this message delivered to Mr, PM @BorisJohnson

Behind the economic tsunami will follow the non-COVID health tsunami, with waiting lists soaring. No one should be cavalier with the risks on any side. Ministers must be bold and lead. It's time to accelerate the opening of society and the economy.

9,000 jobs being axed by @RollsRoyce and it's not even headline news on broadcast bulletins. a clear sign of the scale of the economic tsunami to come

This chart, showing daily deaths in hospital by age, should put things in perspective for anyone who thinks that young are dying in high numbers: This is what should be shown by the media. 29 people died in hospital on 18th May, and instead, they announce 545 deaths.

A ridiculous decision from my old University. Cambridge are moving all lectures online until next summer (2021). Students pay a lot for higher education and need the whole experience. It stayed open during WWII - restarting in September should at least be the aim.
