"Optics is a major branch of Science, and most of us are here. It is our passion to pursue discovery and truth in Nature that we are celebrating here tonight. Thank you for coming to Hong Kong and bringing along all the state-of-the-art research Worldwide!" @cleopr2018 #polyu
Here we are at our yearly @ofcconference in person meeting of @JrnlLT #EditorialBoard. The members joined together at #OFC24 to discuss #JLT paper handling with new #AEs and how to deal with #AI engines in paper writing. #photonics #optics @IEEEPhotonics @OpticaWorldwide
TFLN EO frequency combs are flat and flexible. Together with CityU of HK, @xu_feb demonstrated the World's first 50GHz spaced TFLN EO comb over 53-km deployed link at 6.48Tb/s, as well as variable comb spacing and multi-pump for multi-comb generation using a single device!
Our deployed link around HK go along the busiest tunnel in the World. We show how to improve the vibration sensing accuracy to pick up lighter vehicles while eliminating background noise. Great for traffic monitoring in metropolitan areas !
Glad to be back at @ofcconference again ! This year our group has 7 talks/workshops/posters, one of our best year ! First activity: I will talk about neural networks for optical communications in the workshop this afternoon. Look forward to catch up with all our friends soon !
Time flies and I have served in @HongKongPolyU for over 15 years. It has been more challenging and rewarding than I could have ever imagined. Great to have started my career in PolyU and look forward to continue learning and contributing more ~
Its an honor to serve as Associate Editor of @JrnlLT for 6 years and handled works on Machine Learning for transmission systems. Learnt/grew a lot. From 1983 to now and beyond, @JrnlLT remains to be the top journal for the community. Thanks Gabriella Bosco for her leadership!
A big #ThankYou to the outgoing Editorial Board members: Dalma Novak, Ken-ichi Kitayama, Alan Lau, Werner Klaus, John Abbott and Kazi Abedin. They greatly impacted @JrnlLT with their #invaluable contributions. We will miss you 🥲 #JLT #family @IEEEPhotonics @OpticaWorldwide
Thanks to Alibaba and the our collaboration, an open-source deployed network dataset for QoT/GSNR monitoring is now published at JOCN and on GitHub github.com/alibaba/alibab… First comprehensive deployed dataset from Industry and hope this will be useful to the research community !
Got 6 out of 8 submissions accepted for OFC 2024! One of the best results ever for our group at HKPolyU =) Topics include EO comb, long-haul, short reach, physical-layer aware networking, integrated comm./sensing, field trials. Thanks @heyan7 @xu_feb /others for working so hard!
Proud to have worked with my student @heyan7 and our collaborators in Alibaba for this QoT/GSNR study on large-scale disaggregated deployed networks. Recently published at JOCN opg.optica.org/jocn/viewmedia…
Delighted to share our #JOCN paper on #QoT estimation in large-scale #disaggregated production networks. We've analyzed 8-month network data & proposed practical methods for improving QoT accuracy. Gratitude to Prof. @Alan_PT_Lau & collaborators from #Alibaba for their support.
At IEEE Photonics Confernece @IEEEPhotonics at Orlando (right beside Disney Springs haha )and sharing our work on dynamic C+L band networks with Alibaba. Great to catch up with friends and got a taste of local beer ~
Every year we put out our best and push our physical/mental limit to the max for @ofcconference submission. Need this annual goal post to keep us motivated/driven. Thanks @xu_feb @heyan7 / others for putting up with me during this time. We'll be proud of our work and dedication!
Watched Oppenheimer twice to fully capture the Science/History. My work is far from such importance, but our research community never seems to care about the impact of our creations. Isn't it clear that humanity has lost to social media and other high-speed Internet applications?
After almost 3 decades of repeated discussions and attempts, our Electrical Engineering and Electronic and Information Engineering departments merged this month. Our dept is finally similar to other good Universities Worldwide👍
In future dynamic C+L-band networks with SRS effects and random add/drop, we propose a fast 3-step algo to configure the EDFA gain and tilts to maintain good signal power profiles and GSNR at @JrnlLT . An add-on tool for reliable and dynamic networks ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/99607…
My first time in OFC Hackathon! Very glad to have this opportunity to introduce Commplax and JAX to opticomm community with my Ph.D. supervisor @Alan_PT_Lau . hack-your-research.gitlab.io/post/ofc_2023/ Got lots of inspiring feedback to improve, thank you all! better tools, better life :)
Device/DSP innovations go hand-in-hand. Our collaborator from Chinese Univ. of HK will present a PAM-8 330Gb/s SiP microring modulator with low driving voltage at Room 2 15:30 today. Glad to have contributed our part in system characterizations and DSP! @ofcconference #OFC2023
Really great to meet all the EiCs of @JrnlLT since it's inception in 1983! I'm honored and grateful to be in the team of editors to help improve the Journal and best serve the Optics community 💪@ofcconference #OFC2023
Adding distributed vibration sensing functions to increase the value of deployed telecomm. fibers is a hot topic. Our staff Yaxi Yan will present a simple config to enable sensing/telecomm co-existence along a fiber route across HK at 9 am Room 9 tmr @ofcconference #OFC2023
Optical Networks are getting more disaggregated. Today, my student @heyan7 will present her work on how to improve QoT estimation for disaggregated and partially loaded large-scale deployed network at 15:15 Room 6E. Joint work with Alibaba Cloud #OFC2023
New to our World of Optics research and wonder how papers are reviewed? Together with other colleagues at @JrnlLT, PTL and JOCN, we'll have a special event at 2 pm today Room 14B and also discuss how to become a reviewer. @ofcconference events are getting better every year!
