Oh, I agree that the "Core" of the character, and their overall "Role and place" within the franchise shouldn't be messed with at all. But from some of the stuff I've seen, people aren't always invested in the "Core" but rather a VERY specific characterization.

The Hate for Ian Flynn is still largely Corny as fuck. He has his imperfections, and maybe he isn’t the best Sonic writer, but a chunk of his loudest haters say the most misinformed shit and are annoying as hell.

watching the new splashdash video and comments like these really bother me cuz. mania is almost a decade old and someone can change ALOT in that time. their tastes can be refined and expectations can change. what they may have found fun in 2017 isnt fun to them in 2024
i often see people outside the sonic fandom assume that sonic is some cocky unlikeable jerk who only cares about speed but that's not it at all. sure, he's sassy and sarcastic but he's always described as having a big heart and being an inspiration to everyone he meets :)
Sonic Frontiers is such a good sonic game! I just really wish people would just play the game for fun and not constantly judge it on what sega should have done and stuff like that. Games take years to make, so by the time they put on a trailer for it, it's already to late to have…
Yall really undersell Frontiers a lot. We’ve never had a game with this level of ambition, creativity, and spectacle. Not even Unleashed can top it. Yes it has its shortcomings but you can’t undermine the absolute W’s it has when it comes to story, heart, creativity, and soul.
This shit scares me man🥲, the idea that Frontiers would’ve been the end of the line if it didn’t do well is insane. I’m glad the Team made something that *regardless how some ppl feel* has overall felt like a W and reinvigorated hype for Sonic. Makes 1 Way Dream hit harder💙
