15 years ago, I started Actually Organized by Angela. I enjoy helping clients get organized, and improving their lives. I never take for granted how brave it is to ask for help, and how difficult it is to allow me into your home when you are feeling most vulnerable. @NAPOnatl

My client and I bid farewell to a pile of mismatched socks today. Then she discovered it was Lost Sock Memorial Day! How appropriate. We had already searched one more time, honored them, and let them go.

Cal State Fullerton Professor Can Discuss Why Many Americans Crave Home Organization newswise.com/articles/cal-s… Experts agree with what we know - clutter causes stress.

Even the Ohio State Alumni Magazine is getting on the decluttering bandwagon! Sort by Category. You can't know how much you have of something, if it is stored in multiple places. It makes it easier to discard/donate if you know that you have more of it.alumnimagazine.osu.edu/story/7-strate…

January is officially "Get Organinzed Month." What are you going to do to Get Organized in 2024? Here's a helpful hint. The less you have the easier it is to get and stay organized. I'm available to help. @napochicago

Greeting cards – I love to send them, and love to get them. But do they become a problematic? I find a lot of cards in client’s homes (and mine), and they can be difficult to get rid of.

I’m surprised that newer homes don’t have linen closets in the hallway. One idea for storing linens is to place folded sheets in the pillow case and store them in the room where it will be used. This also works to free up space if the linen closet you have is too full.

Do you have piles of magazines laying around? Recycle them. When this month’s magazine arrives, toss last months. If you haven’t read it already, chances are you won’t. If it’s a news or entertainment magazine the information is dated anyway. The cleared space will feel great!

Basic organizing principles apply to your refrigerator, just like the rest of the house. A place for everything, and everything in its place. Create zones for different food types including leftovers.

Feeling the joy of accomplishing a task on my to do list that was there too long! In Dec, I posted furniture to get rid of, and was unsuccessful. On Mon.,thanks to NextDoor, someone came quickly to take both pieces. The furniture found a good home and I crossed it off my list!

A very satisfying refrigerator clean up. Time to purge expired food and organize by category so you know what you have. No need for my client to buy onions for awhile. We found seven.

So many clients comment that their lives are easier to manage once they have decluttered and minimized what they own. The more stuff you have the more stuff you have to manage.

How many calendars are you working with? As we approach the new year, consider only using one. Digital or paper, the recommendation is the same - use one! You are less likely to miss something! @napochicago

Have a big project on your to-do list this week? Try breaking it down into smaller pieces. It will be much more manageable. Still stuck? Call me!

Try to find a few minutes today to prepare for the week ahead. Tidy your kitchen, create your to do list for the week, menu plan and make your grocery list. You’ll be glad you did!

Every two years, my client pulls everything out of her basement storage. We sort and purge what she no longer needs. Outgrown toys and clothes get donated. So great to have an organized storage space again.

Are you holding onto clothes that don’t fit? Ask yourself if they are still in style? Would you actually wear it, if it did fit? Why not donate it now and treat yourself if your size changes? My client took this advice and donated 32 pieces of clothing! @napochicago
