I don’t care about whether Biden’s setting a precedent. It was wrong to pardon his son.
Woodrow Wilson pardoned his brother-in-law, Hunter deButts. Bill Clinton pardoned his brother, Roger. Donald Trump pardoned his daughter’s father-in-law, Charlie Kushner. And just appointed him Ambassador to France. But tell me again how Joe Biden “is setting precedent”? 🤣🤣

For a long time many of us on the left have tolerated some very counterproductive discourse norms because it seemed like everyone crying about them was actually opposed to the *substance* of anti-racism, disability justice, decolonization, and so on
This is an incredibly damaging perspective. I understand why a father would feel compelled to pardon his son in similar circumstances, but, as president, you have to resist that temptation.
Joe Biden pardoning Hunter looks bad but most fathers would do the same thing under the circumstances.
Those people shouldn't be president. You have a tremendous amount of power in that role. There are all kinds of things u could do, but that doesn't mean you should. I feel for Hunter. He probably was a political target, but he was also responsible for his actions.
I honestly would expect that 99% of their parents would pardon their kids if they could. I would.
I don’t know if there is truth to the pills part, but I have thought ab the issue quite a lot. The truth for us is, we don’t parent the way we’d like to. Society is not set up to parent in a way that allows u to safe guard against real risks & ignore those that r not real risks.
